Female Cardinal

Female Cardinal

Posted on October 31, 2021September 5, 2022

I was on my way back from photographing Red Headed Woodpeckers (my next post!) when I saw this cardinal in great light among some bushes. I only had my fixed f11/800mm with me, so I had to take a few steps back to get a good focus.

Here she is nibbling on a berry.

The male cardinals are so very striking, I too often overlook the beauty of their mate.

About

I’m learning to see birds and their movement through the lens of a camera. I’m a new photographer surprised at the richness of detail the pictures provide. How I see and watch birds has changed forever.
