I was helping my husband take the recycling to the street when he spotted this owl. I ran inside and grabbed my camera and managed to get a few shots off before he was spooked by the noise. I wasn’t sure what I’d get in the dim light with all of the trees, but I’m pretty pleased with this shot. This was the first time I’d seen a barred owl–so it was a life bird for me. He’s a pretty amazing creature.
