Bald Eagle in Flight

Posted on October 10, 2020July 5, 2021

We are lucky enough to get to see bald eagles from time to time on our creek. This was a good visit because he was flying a bit lower than usual, making him much closer to my lens than I normally see him. I like everything about his posture and stare.

Another photo of the same eagle. This is a decent shot, but the other photo is more dramatic because he’s looking straight at the camera and there’s a tension to the angle of his wings. That’s what I enjoy about bird photography. I had a good subject in good light, but I’m at the mercy of the shutter speed and where the eagle decides to fly. Checking my shots after he’s flown by is opening little presents to see what’s inside–always hoping I find something good. Today was a good get.

About

I’m learning to see birds and their movement through the lens of a camera. I’m a new photographer surprised at the richness of detail the pictures provide. How I see and watch birds has changed forever.
