Brown Pelican

Brown Pelican

Posted on January 9, 2021July 5, 2021

This pelican was fishing in our creek yesterday. I was working from home when I saw him and grabbed my camera and ran out. He was in close so I had a chance to get quite a few pictures before he departed. I wished I’d grabbed my coat too–it was pretty chilly out. I hadn’t seen a brown pelican on our creek before although I knew we were in their range.

This fellow was a fairly obliging subject. He dove several times and stayed close to our dock for quite awhile. It was a treat to see him at the house.

About

I’m learning to see birds and their movement through the lens of a camera. I’m a new photographer surprised at the richness of detail the pictures provide. How I see and watch birds has changed forever.
