Male and Female Buffleheads

Buffleheads

Posted on January 2, 2021July 5, 2021

The male is the more colorful duck with green and purple iridescence on his head. The female is a pretty duck too with lovely warm brown coloring, but compared to her partner, she appears drab. These are small ducks that are fairly shy. Once they see me, they turn and leave. They visit our tidal creek during the winter months and are fun to watch diving for food.

This is a short post, but more to follow. I’m still getting used to my new camera and I’m just now getting some shots I’m ready to post.

About

I’m learning to see birds and their movement through the lens of a camera. I’m a new photographer surprised at the richness of detail the pictures provide. How I see and watch birds has changed forever.
